Lisa Ling gears up for the premiere of her new show 'Our America' on OWN - Will you tune in?
Lisa Ling reveled on Twitter today that she is "nervous" for the new debut of her show "Our America" on Oprah Winfrey's new OWN channel on Tuesday night at 10.
"So nervous and excited about tonight," Ling said in a Tweet responding to Oprah. It's just the latest of many interactions the two have had about Ling's show according to a new profile in the Los Angeles Times.
"I always get e-mails from Oprah [Winfrey] at, like, 2 a.m.," she told the newspaper. "It just never stops."
Though she insists that Winfrey was not too hands on, "She wasn't so involved with the production of the series. But she has been so effusive about this series. I've definitely kept every e-mail she has sent."
Ling's show "Our America" documents controversial subjects in the United States like online brides, drug addictions, sex offenders, religious movements and tonight's show about faith healers.
"Even though I've been working in this business for over 20 years, I've never gotten a chance to do some really provocative programming," Ling, who was a co-host on "The View" from 1999 to 2002, told the newspaper. "OWN has really let me work on stories in a way that I wouldn't be able to do anywhere else."
She adds, "I really want people to think differently about these topics or these issues or these people -- differently than they thought about before and to recognize -- to really sort of expand -- what the whole idea of what being an American is."
