Lindsay Lohan violates probation? Actress summoned to court

06/22/2011 by OnTheRedCarpet.com Staff

Lindsay Lohan has been ordered to appear on Thursday, June 23 at a last-minute hearing that is set to determine if she violated her probation in a 2007 drunk driving and cocaine possession case, a Los Angeles County District Attorney spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com.

The 24-year-old actress has been under house arrest since late May. A judge had sentenced Lohan to jail after ruling several weeks ago that she had violated her probation by being charged with theft in an unrelated case.

Lohan turned herself in to a jail on May 26 and was told she could serve her sentence at home in Venice, California and be monitored electronically. The actress also had her punishment reduced from 120 days to 35 and was given a June 29 release date.

Los Angeles County District Attorney spokesperson Sandi Gibbons told OnTheRedCarpet.com on Wednesday, June 22, that a probation violation hearing for Lohan was scheduled for Thursday at a Los Angeles court, but did specify why. The actress will have to make an appearance, Gibbons said.

Lindsay's spokesperson Steve Honig told OnTheRedCarpet.com he would neither confirm nor deny if a Thursday hearing was scheduled.

Sources close to the matter told OnTheRedCarpet.com that Lohan may have violated the terms of her probation by drinking alcohol during a party at her home. However, Lohan's spokesperson Steve Honig would neither confirm nor deny the possible violation.

Lohan's probation officer stated in a progress report, obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com, that the actress has tested positive for alcohol at least twice over the past year and failed to attend all court-mandated alcohol education classes. It also said Lohan has been cooperative and has made progress regarding her substance abuse treatment.

Lohan was given three more years of probation after she pleaded no contest to misdemeanor theft in a missing $2,500 necklace case. She was also ordered to complete 480 community service hours at a women's shelter and in a morgue, undergo psychological counseling, attend a Shoplifters Alternative class and pay several fines.

She has already begun her community service duties but cannot continue her work or her classes while under house arrest. The actress was ordered to resume her duties after she is released.

Lohan had been pre-approved for house arrest after her theft charge was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor.

Lohan has been to jail several times for stints that have lasted between 84 minutes and 14 days, a sentence reduced from 90 days mostly due to overcrowding. Earlier this year, after her sentencing for her probation violation, Lohan spent several hours inside a Los Angeles jail before she was bailed out.

Lindsay Lohan is working despite being under house arrest. She recently shot a commercial in her home for the penny auction website BEEZID.com.
