Lindsay Lohan talks adoption rumors, cancellation of Barbara Walters interview

11/21/2012 by Corinne Heller

Does Lindsay Lohan want to adopt a child?

The 26-year-old actress, who is promoting her new Lifetime Television movie "Liz & Dick, was quoted by Us Weekly magazine as saying in a recent interview in its print issue: "I want to adopt a son. I don't want to deal with a mini-me," according to The Insider.

When asked about the specific comment at the premiere of the new TV film, Lohan laughed and told "Access Hollywood": "That's no one's business."

The actress' spokesperson had no immediate comment. Lohan has been on a press tour to promote "Liz & Dick," which premieres on November 25 and sees her playing famed Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor. Lohan appeared on the ABC program Good Morning America" last week and talked to Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" on Tuesday, November 20.

On the program, the two joked about a fake tabloid cover that read "Lindsay Lohan adopts Honey Boo Boo," referring to child pageant queen Alana Thompson, the star of the TLC reality show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo." and discussed Lohan's cancellation of an interview with ABC's Barbara Walters.

In June, Walters, known for her hardball questions, had flown to Los Angeles and filmed a small part of her "20/20" sit-down with Lohan on the set of Liz & Dick."

Walters had planned to carry out a follow-up interview this month and said on her ABC show "The View" last week that Lohan had canceled because she "doesn't feel up to it." Walters said she was "disappointed" and would have preferred a "more honest explanation."

Lohan, 26, explained the reason for the cancellation herself on "The Tonight Show," saying: "You know it's just the timing wasn't right now," Lohan said. I love her -- I'm a big fan of Barbara Walters. I met her when I was very young. And so, when it's right, she knows she'll be the first person I sit down with. It's all good. I spoke to her people that she works with and everything."

Lohan's acting career has been stalled for years by personal and legal turmoil. In March, a judge ruled that Lohan has fulfilled all her probation requirements stemming from a 2007 DUI and cocaine possession case, which had stalled her acting career. She has served six stints in jail, which have lasted less than two weeks in total, as well as 35 days under house arrest, and also spent time in rehab to treat drug and alcohol addictions.

In June, she was treated by paramedics after being found unresponsive in the penthouse of a Los Angeles hotel. Her spokesperson at the time said she had spent all night filming "Liz & Dick" and was exhausted.

In a segment that aired on Walters' ABC show "The View," the veteran newswoman was seen asking Lohan about it. The actress said she just "needed a nap for 15 minutes" and was shocked to see the paramedics. She said she was currently "fine."

Walters said on "The View" that Lohan had cancelled her planned follow-up interview after her publicist quit and she acquired new PR reps.

"I spent a lot of time doing a lot of homework, writing a lot of questions, watching the actual movie ... and then her longtime press agent resigned," Walters said on "The View." That should've been a clue."

"Why is it canceled? ' Lindsay doesn't feel up to it.' Well I mean she has a lot of problems and it was just one more and I said, 'Poor girl I hope when she feels like it, she will do it," Walters said. "So today I pick up the paper - Lindsay Lohan is sitting for an interview with Jay Leno. I am happy for my colleague Jay Leno."

On "The Tonight Show," Leno also asked the actress about her long-lost 17-year-old half-sister, who was revealed on the NBC's "Trisha Goddard Show" last week to be the daughter of the actress' father (watch video). Lohan, who is estranged from him, had said on "Good Morning America" she was not aware about the on-screen shocker.

"I guess I could give her one word of advice - good luck with my dad," she told Leno.
