Lindsay Lohan says fingernail message with expletive was a joke

07/07/2010 by Corinne Heller

Lindsay Lohan says fingernail expletive was a joke Lindsay Lohan says the expletive written on her middle fingernail, seen in photographs taken of the actress during her recent hearing on her probation, was meant to be a joke.

"Didn't we do our nails as a joke with our friend dc? it had nothing to do w/court.. it's an airbrush design from a stencil xx," Lohan wrote on her Twitter page on Wednesday, a day after she was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation.

Do you think Lohan's message was a fashion statement or a rant?

Lohan, who was found to have not attended all court-mandated weekly alcohol education classes, sobbed as the judge spoke. The actress begins her sentence on July 20 and must also complete a 90-day substance abuse rehabilitation program and refrain from drinking alcohol.

Lohan, 24, pleaded guilty in 2007 to being under the influence of cocaine, no contest to driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent and reckless driving. But in recent months, she has been seen at nightclubs.

Lohan had been ordered to attended weekly alcohol education classes by July 15. She was found to have missed seven classes. Lohan also missed a probation hearing in May because she was stuck at the Cannes Film Festival in France and was unable to attend alcohol education classes during that time.

Six drug screenings of Lohan, made since May, showed the actress has been clean of illicit drugs and alcohol, according to court records obtained by the Associated Press. Lohan had been taking medications such as Adderall, which is used to treat attention hyperactivity disorder, and the prescription painkiller Dilaudid, it said.

Lohan said at her hearing she thought she was allowed to go to multiple classes in a week instead of attending a weekly one on a regular basis, so that she could further her acting career if she had to travel for work.

"I was there thinking it was okay that I missed those classes," she said. "Had I known .. I would have made sure I was in town each week and I would have balanced my work around that. I dont want you to think I dont respect you and your terms because I really did think I was doing what I was supposed to do."

When she returned to the United States from France, Lohan was ordered to wear a "SCRAM" alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet. The device was activated on June 7 at a party, prompting the judge to summon her attorney to discuss the matter. Lohan's lawyer has said the actress had no alcohol in her system when her SCRAM device was triggered.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel said she would not take the incident into account at her Tuesday probation hearing.
