Lindsay Lohan endorses Mitt Romney, amidst family drama
Lindsay Lohan has said that she endorses Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, in spite of her recent support of President Barack Obama.
"I just think employment is really important right now," Lohan told E! News at the launch of Mr. Pink's Ginseng Drink in Beverly Hills on October 11. "So, as of now, Mitt Romney. As of now."
Lohan, who voted for Obama in 2008, added, "It's a long story."
She also Tweeted on September 5, "fan of @michelleobama."
Lohan was also one of the celebrities invited to the White House Correspondent's dinner in April, where she apparently caught the attention of former Pennsylvania senator and former Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum.
According to the Los Angeles County Voter Registration, the 26-year-old actress is not yet registered to vote in the upcoming election, due to a recent move from her house in Venice. Lohan's rep told Today that Lohan is "in the process of registering to vote."
It is unclear what made Lohan change her mind about the Obama campaign, but the actress made headlines during his 2008 campaign, after she was reportedly rebuffed by his team.
An Obama source reportedly declined Lohan's offer to host an event because the actress "is not exactly the kind of high-profile star who would be a positive for us."
Lohan's father Michael Lohan slammed the campaign, telling Fox News, "For Barack Obama to condemn my daughter for past indiscretions when he admitted to the exact same himself is indicative of what kind of president he would be."
Lohan has reportedly said that her father is "dead to her" after he leaked a private conversation where the actress complained about her mother taking a $40k loan and insinuated that Dina Lohan was using cocaine. She later denied that her mother was using drugs and slammed her father for giving the conversation to TMZ.
"As a man, you don't do this to your child," Lohan told TMZ of her father. "I'm ashamed for him. It is hurtful for me that he has chosen this road again.... He doesn't know what it means to be a father. He doesn't want to be a dad."
