Liberty Ross talks Kristen Stewart-Rupert Sanders cheating scandal

10/30/2013 by Corinne Heller

Model Liberty Ross says that she feels she is "going through a rebirth" following the 2012 cheating scandal involving her husband, director Rupert Sanders, and actress Kristen Stewart, who starred in his film "Snow White and the Huntsman."

In July 2012, paparazzi photos of the latter two kissing on the side of a road surfaced online. Stewart issued an apology, saying she had a "momentary indiscretion." Ross, who is 35 and shares two children with Sanders, sought a divorce in January. She told Vanity Fair she found out about the affair 20 hours before the pictures were posted.

"It was horrible," she told magazine in a December 2013 interview. "It was really the worst, really the worst. I have no words to describe what we went through. But I think, for me, something always has to completely die for there to be a rebirth. And, for me, I feel like I'm going through a rebirth."

Ross says she and the children stayed with her brother's friend's house after the cheating scandal broke.

"I was able to be there completely secluded. I just visualized [being] this sort of Masai warrior. I was just going to stand very still and very strong, and just let it all roll past me. I tried to keep as far away from it as I could and to understand that this is my family and it's the most precious thing to me."

Vanity Fair reported that Ross forgives Sanders.

"We were together for 16 years and that in itself is really beautiful," she said. "And we've created two exceptional lives together."
