Liam Hemsworth injured on 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' set
Liam Hemsworth injured his knee on the set of the upcoming film, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."
"I twisted my knee," Hemsworth told USA Today on October 18. "I try to just fight through it. There's so many people standing around waiting for you to do your thing. You feel sort of obligated not to let everyone down."
The 22-year-old actor, who portrays Gale in the franchise, told the newspaper that the sequel will be even more action-packed than this year's release "The Hunger Games," which starred Jennifer Lawrence and made more than $684 million worldwide since its March release.
"There's a bunch of action in this one," Hemsworth said. "All of the characters have much more action than they did in the first one."
While co-star Josh Hutcherson, who portrays Peeta in the film, told USA Today that he would be in better shape for the second film, Hemsworth joked, "It's 'The Hunger Games' ... My character needs to look hungry. A little bit."
"The Hunger Games" and its sequels are based on a popular book trilogy by Collins. The first installment introduced the event, which saw children and teenagers forced to fight to the death in an arena placed in the wilderness. The "Catching Fire" is the second one and sees previous winners of The Hunger Games, including adults, return for a rematch.
Confirmed new cast members of "Catching Fire" include Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavenbee, Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair, Amanda Plummer as the character Wiress, Jena Malone as Johanna Mason, Lynn Cohen as Mags, Meta Golding as Enobaria, Bruno Gunn as Brutus and Alan Ritchson as Gloss. Francis Lawrence was also confirmed as the director of "Catching Fire," following the exit of Gary Ross.
"Catching Fire" began shooting in Atlanta, Georgia last month and is expected to wrap in December. The movie is set for release on Nov. 22, 2013.
Hemsworth most recently appeared in the film, "The Expendables 2," opposite big league action stars like Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris.
The young actor recently completed filming the thriller "Paranoia," which also stars Amber Heard and Harrison Ford. The flick is slated for release on October 4, 2013.
