It took the cover of a magazine to convince a few of "The Hunger Games" fans that Jennifer Lawrence was the right actress to play the lead character of Katniss Everdeen.

Now her co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, hope to end any other worries that fans might have about their beloved character Peeta and Gale hitting the big screen next year. The two actors are featured on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, seen above, decked out in "The Hunger Games" costumes.

"The Hunger Games" is the first book in the trilogy of novels based around the character Katniss Everdeen, who will be played by Lawrence.

Everdeen lives in the post-apocalyptic North America, which is now called Panem. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event put on by the government in Capitol city, where a boy and a girl from each district fight to the death.

Hutcherson, 18, has appeared in films like "The Kids Are All Right" and "Bridge to Terabithia." He dyed his hair blone for the role of Peeta Mellark, a baker's son who competes for Everdeen's affections. The character accompanies Everdeen into the 74th annual Hunger Games as the boy chosen to fight from her district.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Hemsworth co-starred alongside Miley Cyrus in "The Last Song." He plays Gale Hawthorne, Everdeen's childhood friend who shares a "transcendent bond" with her.

"On first glance he's such a hunk that it's easy to just sort of ascribe a hunk-like simplicity to him," the film's director Gary Ross told Entertainment Weekly about Hemsworth. "But this is a phenomenally subtle actor."

It was previously reported that Lionsgate is considering turning the three books in the series in to four films for the silver screen, just like the "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" franchises. However, the plan is not set and the book that would be split into two films was never specified.

It was announced in May that Donald Sutherland had joined the ever-growing cast of the film. The actor is set to play President Snow in the film adaptation of the popular young adult novels written by Suzanne Collins. Sutherland's character is described as a "cruel and ruthless" leader who has "a contentious relationship" with the film's protagonist Everdeen.

Rocker Lenny Kravitz was announced as a cast member last week. The musician will play Cinna, a "mild-mannered" first time stylist whose designs are "show-stopping." He's the stylist assigned to Everdeen for the lead up to the Hunger Games, a televised event that sees a boy and a girl from different districts fight each other to the death, film studio Lionsgate said.

Woody Harrelson was recently confirmed to play the character of Haymitch Abernathy, Everdeen's mentor.

Others who have been cast in "The Hunger Games" include Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman, the "upbeat" host of the Hunger Games, Wes Bentley of "American Beauty," who will play head game mastermind Seneca Crame, Elizabeth Banks, who will take on the role of Effie Trinket.

Jack Quaid, the son of actors Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, Leven Rambin, Dayo Okeniyi, Amanda Stenberg, Jeremy Marinas and Dakota Hood have also been linked to the movie.

The film adaptation of the popular novel by Suzanne Collins will hit theaters on March 23, 2012.
