Leighton Meester on 'That's My Boy': 'It gave me total freedom'
For Leighton Meester, a role in a raunchy comedy like "That's My Boy" gave her the freedom to show off her comedy side not often seen on "Gossip Girl."
The 26-year-old actress told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Rachel Smith at the film's premiere about her role, "I feel like it gave me total freedom and maybe that's sort of a bad thing in life to be able to be like, 'I could have a totally dirty sense of humor, I can make all these fart jokes and noises and just do really weird stuff.'"
"It totally appeals to my weird sense of humor so it's awesome," she added. Meester is best known for playing scheming socialite Blair Waldorf on "Gossip Girl." She also starred alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in "Country Strong" and has appeared in "The Roommate" and "Monte Carlo."
In The film, Adam Sandler stars as Donny Berger, a man who fathered a son when he was 13 with his teacher (Eva Amurri Martino / Susan Sarandon). Donny's son Todd (Andy Samberg), cut ties with his father after his 18th birthday and 12 years later, is getting ready to marry his fiancee (Meester). Donny finds out about his son's wedding and tries to reconnect with him to hopefully get help to avoid being jailed for failing to pay $43,000 to the IRS.
"I grew up with him [Sandler], like he is my hero," Leighton said. "He is awesome and just to have him be like, 'Hey kid, you should say this.' We made up a bunch of our own lines and our own jokes."
As for her on-screen fiance, Meester said of the "Saturday Night Live" alum, "Andy is the cutest, smartest, sweetest, funniest, weirdest dude, so all of it together is pretty awesome."
"That's My Boy" hit theaters on June 15. Check out the trailer below.
