Lea Michele: Sarah Hyland 'hurt my feelings' with red carpet pose comments
"Glee" star Lea Michele confessed that Sarah Hyland's comments on her "red carpet pose" have actually hurt her feelings.
"I gotta be honest. It hurt my feelings a little bit," Michele told Us Weekly at Variety's 3rd Annual Power of Women event on Friday. "I really think the message of today is that women should motivate and empower women, and so that's why I'm honored to be a part of today."
Hyland, who plays Haley Dunphy on the ABC comedy series "Modern Family," mocked her fellow actress over how she posed at the premiere of "Glee: The 3D Concert Movie" in August.
"She puts her hands on her hips like this and sticks out her collar bones ... to make her look skinnier," Hyland, 20, recently said on the E! Entertainment Television show "Fashion Police." "It's very strange."
"Fashion Police" also features Joan Rivers, known for her own biting remarks about celebrity fashion.
"I actually saw a clip of her doing that on the red carpet," Hyland said about Michele. "You see me in the background with my back turned, looking at my publicist, being like, 'I don't know what to do right now. It's very awkward for me. I've never seen anything like this before in my life."
Hyland later Tweeted: "@msleamichele this is all so stupid. It was meant to be humorous, not hurtful. Let's talk. I'll see you tonight?"
"I'm happy with my own life and am not jealous of anyone else in the world," she said. "Congrats Lea. U know how to work the red carpet. I can't take it as seriously as you. That's all I wanted to show on FP. It's strange to me."
Lea Michele didn't appear to hold a grudge about the incident though, telling Us Weekly, "I send her love. I think she's a great person."
On "Glee," Lea Michele plays diva-like high school student and glee club member Rachel Berry. The actress recently broke up with her boyfriend of more than a year, Broadway star Thro Stockton, according to E! News.
The FOX musical comedy series was nominated for 12 Emmys at this year's award ceremony, which took place on September 18, but did not win any awards.
"Modern Family" received 17 nods and won five awards, including Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Ty Burrell and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Julie Bowen, who play Hyland's parents on the ABC series. "Modern Family" was also awarded Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Comedy Series.
Hyland and Michele have not received individual nods for their roles.
The 2011 Emmy Awards ceremony was held at L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 18 and was hosted by "Glee" actress Jane Lynch. Check out a full list of nominees and winners.
