Lea Michele to release book, 'Brunette Ambition'
Rachel Getting... Published?
Lea Michele, who plays the budding diva Rachel Berry on FOX's "Glee," has signed a book deal with the Harmony Books imprint of Random House's Crown Publishing Group, according to a recent statement released by the publisher.
The book, titled "Brunette Ambition," is autobiographical, recounting Michele's journey from "normal Bronx-born schoolgirl to Broadway child star to lead actress in one of the most popular shows on television."
The release stated that "Brunetee Ambition" will contain "practical advice and lessons" for fans as well as a "behind-the-scenes perspective" from the 26-year-old actress, who began her stage career in 1995 with the role of Young Cosette in "Les Miserables."
She went on to appear in "Ragtime," "Fiddler on the Roof," Ragtime" and "Spring Awakening" on Broadway before being cast as a lead on the Fox musical dramedy series in 2009.
"There wasn't a guidebook when I was growing up, that detailed everything I would need to do, and know, to get where I am today," Michele said in a statement. "But I believe I can write one of sorts: not a how-to-make-it-in-show-business book, but a guide to harnessing tenacity, passion, enthusiasm and hard work to make your dreams come true."
Michele also took to Twitter to share the news of her impending book, which is set to be released in spring 2014.
"So excited to FINALLY get to share my exciting news with you all!!! #BRUNETTEAMBITION" she posted.
Michele is not the first "Glee" alum to put pen to paper. Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel on the Fox series, wrote two fantasy novels for children, "The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell" and "The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns." He also wrote a bildungsroman, "Struck By Lightning," which was adapted into a film in 2012.
Jenna Ushkowitz, who plays Tina Cohen-Chang on "Glee," also recently released a semi-autobiographical book, titled "Choosing Glee."
