Lea Michele on Cory Monteith romance: 'Glee's Ryan Murphy was my matchmaker
Lea Michele might have "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy to thank for her off-screen romance with co-star Cory Monteith.
"Yes, I would definitely say he is my matchmaker for sure," Michele told to E! News about Murphy at his PaleyFest Icon Award ceremony at The Paley Center for Media on Wednesday, February 27, in Beverly Hills, California.
Michele, 26, and 30-year-old Monteith have been linked together romantically since February 2012. The couple stepped out together at the Do Something Awards in August. See photos here.
Murphy also spoke about the couple's romance during the event.
"I directed them in their first scene together and they had that sort of chemistry that you can't fake, and I said, 'Uh-oh,'" Murphy said, according to the entertainment news site. "So I did kind of know. I take credit."
While things may be going well for Michele and Monteith's real life relationship, their characters broke up earlier this season on "Glee."
Michele last opened up about her romance with Monteith in an interview with Marie Claire for its January 2013 issue.
"No one knows me better than Cory. No one knows what it's been like to go through this more than he does," she said at the time. "He makes me feel like I can do anything."
She later added, "For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy ... I feel like the luckiest girl in the world."
Many cast members from Murphy's shows like "Popular," "Glee" and "American Horror Story" appeared at the event. Murphy, who welcomed a son in late December, received his award from Norman Lear, the legendary creator of TV series like " All in the Family," "Sanford and Son," "One Day at a Time," and "The Jeffersons."
