LeAnn Rimes gets 'massive' infection, reschedules tour date
LeAnn Rimes had an unfortunately rough weekend.
Rimes, 30, Tweeted that she was recovering following a massive bacterial infection, forcing her to reschedule one of her tour dates.
"I feel like I got hit in my right side of my face with a baseball bat :(," she Tweeted on October 6. "NOT a good feeling when I am getting on a plane. For all my fans at Wendover last night, the show will be rescheduled, not a canceled show. WORST way ever to kick off a tour.....under anesthesia and a massive infection. Well, onward and upward. It can only get better from here!!! On another note, Happy Saturday."
Rimes went on to further detail her ailments on her website, posting that she had been admitted to the emergency room at 3 a.m. on October 6.
"The ER at 3am, THAT is an interesting place to be," Rimes posted on her official website on October 7. "Feeling much better now, thanks to my husband's best friend who's an ER doc. I've been living in a dental nightmare for 10 months. I'm getting back on track though, I hope. I've had too many detours this year due to dental issues. I'm finally in great hands and being well taken care of."
On August 29, Rimes had entered a treatment facility for anxiety and stress - the day after her 30th birthday.
"LeAnn has voluntarily entered a 30 day in-patient treatment facility to cope with anxiety and stress," her rep Marcel Pariseau told People magazine on August 30. "While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."
Following the announcement of her treatment, Rimes issued a statement to People magazine, saying: "This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be," Rimes told People. "All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I'm hoping they're not going to affect me as much... I'll have the tools to know how to deal with them."
On September 7, Rimes delivered her first performance since entering the treatment program, performing in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and reportedly telling the audience: "I'm pissed off at a lot of things, and I just can't say it. So it comes out in the music...I'm totally cool and so happy. I think I'm about to cry. Thanks for being awesome fans... patient and understanding."
In February, Rimes told fans that she was in a lot of pain after undergoing a "minor surgery" on her mouth.
Rimes has been in the spotlight since releasing her first single, a cover of Bill Mack's "Blue," when she was 13 years old.
