LeAnn Rimes adopts abandoned puppy found by Twitter follower
LeAnn Rimes has added another member to her family.
The 30-year-old singer adopted an abandoned puppy found by a Twitter follower and her 9-year-old stepson Mason named her Eveie, a name that he told Rimes he was saving "for his little sister."
Los Angeles resident Karla Hoffman posted a photo of the puppy on November 7, with the caption, "Look at this sweet puppy face. Victim of drop and drive! Can u imagine? Please let us know if u can give her a home."
Hoffman said that she found the puppy in a "really busy street in morning traffic" and guessed that she is approximately 8-months-old and weighs about 5 lbs.
Hoffman expressed her happiness that the puppy had gone to a good home, Tweeting on November 9, "She's a sweetheart. I'm so glad I know she's in a good home and will get tons of love! ... I wish stories about @leannrimes could really tell about the kind of person she is in her heart."
"We ALL fell in love at first sight," Rimes wrote in her blog. "Even our doggies welcomed her instantly ... She's brought a ton of joy into our home in just the few hours she's been with us. Eveie has a new home and family and we have a new love!"
Rimes has been settling back in after entering a 30-day voluntary inpatient treatment program in late August, a day after her 30th birthday, to treat anxiety and stress.
The singer was born Margaret LeAnn Rimes in Star, Mississippi and her family later moved to Texas when she was about six. They were poor and lived in a trailer park. She began her music career when she was a child. She shot to fame when she was 13 after releasing her breakout hit, the 1997 single "How Do I Live."
Rimes and her husband Eddie Cibrian moved in together in the summer of 2010 and got engaged in December 2010 when Cibrian proposed with a 5-carat diamond ring. The two wed on April 22, 2011 in a small ceremony in Malibu, California.
Rimes and Cibrian went public with their romance back in 2009 after falling in love on the set of the Lifetime movie, "Northern Lights." At the time, Cibrian was still married to Brandi Glanville, now a cast member on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," while Rimes was married to Dean Sheremet. Rimes and Sheremet divorced in June 2010 while Cibrian and Glanville finalized their divorce in October 2010. Glanville and Cibrian share custody of their two sons - Mason, 9, and Jake, 5.
