Larry Hagman to guest star on 'Desperate Housewives' as 'feisty' fiancé of Lynette's mother
Larry Hagman, who played Texas oil tycoon J.R. Ewing in the hit 1980s show "Dallas", is set to guest star on ABC's "Desperate Housewives" as a the "feisty" fiancé of Stella, the mother of Felicity Huffman's character Lynette.
The mystery drama series is currently on its seventh season and also stars Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher and Marcia Cross as housewives and mothers. Hagman, 79, will appear in one episode and is due to film it next week, his manager told OnTheRedCarpet.com.
"He's a very feisty character," he said, referring to the actor's role on the show.
An ABC spokesperson confirmed Hagman's guest appearance but gave no further details. Stella is played by actress Polly Bergen and is depicted as a former abusive parent who battled substance abuse.
She returns to Lynette's life after her daughter is diagnosed with cancer. The two later continue to squabble and Stella begins living on the streets. Lynette later takes her to a retirement home. Stella was last seen on "Desperate Housewives" in January 2009.
Hagman also played Major Anthony Nelson in the 1960s show "I Dream of Jeannie". In recent years, he guest starred on shows such as "Nip/Tuck" and voiced a character on "The Simpsons".
