Lamar Odom charged with a DUI
Lamar Odom has been charged with one count of driving under the influence.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office confirmed the news to KABC Television, OTRC.com's parent company, on Friday, Sept. 13. Odom's arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 27.
The charge stems from Odom's Aug. 30 arrest in the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles. Police said at the time that around 3:25 a.m. officers spotted Lamar driving a white Mercedes SUV on a Los Angeles highway east in a "serpentine manner" at 50 miles per hour.
Authorities attempted to pull him over, but he continued past three exits before getting off the main road and stopping.
The 33-year-old NBA player, showed "obvious signs of intoxication" and was "unable to perform a field sobriety test," an official said in a statement obtained by OTRC.com. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked at a local jail at 5:01 a.m., where he refused to undergo a chemical test -- an offense punishable by a driver's license suspension of up to a year.
He was released from jail after several hours and after posting a $15,000 bond. News of Odom's arrest came after it was reported by ESPN that he was dealing with a drug problem.
