Lady Gaga's new album 'ARTPOP,' single, app get release dates (Photo)
Lada Gaga has revealed the release dates of her anticipated new album "ARTPOP" -- dubbed her "celebration of obsession," a new single and a smartphone app, plus a new photo of herself.
The announcement was made on the 27-year-old pop star's website and Facebook page on Friday, July 12, via a graphic image, containing text and a photo of the 27-year-old pop star sporting wavy, light brown hair, what appears to be a ski mask and an "ARTPOP" tattoo below her wrist.
This marks the first major announcement from Lady Gaga since she underwent hip surgery in February. She has been largely MIA since then, although she was photographed by the paparazzi in New York City in May. She remains on a Twitter hiatus.
Here are excerpts from Lady Gaga's announcement.
Lady Gaga's new album, "ARTPOP":
- The new record will be released on Nov. 11. "The album "musically mirrors Gaga's creative process as she passes through the mediums of each artist she collaborates with, scoring a blueprint of her journey. The result, a 'rage' of electronic passion and fury, defining each artistic process from beginning to end ... 'ARTPOP' could mean anything. But for her, this is a celebration of obsession."
Lady Gaga's new single:
- The new track's title has not been released. It will be made available on Aug. 19.
Lady Gaga's "ARTPOP" app:
- The smartphone app will also be released on Nov. 11.
"Altering the human experience with social media, we bring ARTculture into POP in a reverse Warholian expedition. ... Exploring Gaga's existence as a cultural interface, the user will share in the 'adrenaline of fame' as they build and share their own projects, chat with one another and watch in real-time on a virtual globe as 'ARTPOP' explodes onto the physical and virtual universe at once on November 11 - our 'BIG BANG!'"
