Lady Gaga to make film debut in 'Machete Kills' - See photo
Lady Gaga is set to make her film debut in the new Robert Rodriguez film "Machete Kills."
Both the director and Lady Gaga herself Tweeted about her involvement in the film on July 26, with the director giving fans a special glimpse of the pop star in character in the poster seen above.
"I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills," Rodriguez tweeted. "She kicked SO MUCH [Expletive]! Holy Smokes. Blown away!"Gaga later Tweeted, "Yes its true, I will be making my debut as an actress ln the amazing MACHETE KILLS BY@RODRIGUEZ IM SO EXCITED!!! AH! Filming was insane."
Gaga will play a character called La Chameleon. Not much is known about her role or how big the part is, but the pop star seems excited about her involvement.
The movie is a sequel to Rodriguez's 2010 film "Machete" and follows Machete (Danny Trejo) after he is hired by the U.S. government to take down an arms dealer in Mexico who plots to launch a weapon into space.
"Machete Kills" also stars Amber Heard, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Hudgens, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez and Cuba Gooding Jr. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is due out in 2013 and is the second film in a planned trilogy.
Another "Machete Kills" star, Alexa Vega, made headlines on Thursday, July 26 for posting a sexy sneak peek at her character from the film. Vega previously worked with Rodriguez in all four "Spy Kids" films.
Lady Gaga has had a few roles on television with skits on "Saturday Night Live" and a voice over role on "The Simpsons."
Gaga recently launched the ad for her first fragrance, "Fame." The ad campaign for the perfume features the singer naked, with miniature men crawling on her body.
In June, the singer announced she will also reveal the name of her new album in September, possibly around the release of the scent.
