Lady Gaga shaves part of her head to honor photographer Terry Richardson's mother - Photo
Lady Gaga showed off a new hair to fans, but the new look has a deeper meaning for the singing star.
Gaga posted a photo to her LittleMonsters site showing her hair tied up in a bun and part of the back of her head shaved in a triangular shape.
She wrote in the caption, "I did it for u Terry," referring to photographer Terry Richardson, "I'm sorry about ure mommy. She has princess die, but were all princess high."
Richardson, who collaborated with Gaga on a photography book released last year called "Lady Gaga X Terry Richardson," chronicled his mother's final days on his Tumblr blog.
On September 11 he wrote that his mother, Annie Lomax, died.
Her caption also references her single "Princess DIE," which is reportedly about the late Princess Diana. Gaga performed the song during a recent concert in London.
"Since I was a very young girl, the people's Princess was the most important person in me and my mother's life," Gaga said. "I swore if I ever had an audience like this in London, I would take a moment to appreciate her."
Gaga initially debuted the song, which is a ballad, earlier this year. The song's opening lyrics say, "Leave the coffin open when I go / Leave my pearls and lipstick on so everybody knows / Pretty will be the photograph I leave / Laying down on famous knives so everybody sees."
The singer's next performance will be on September 11 in Manchester. Last month, she revealed the name of her upcoming album, which will be called "ARTPOP." No release date has been announced.
