Kristin Davis: 'I love, love Josh Josh Hutcherson' (Video)
Kristin Davis says she took part in the 2012 adventure film "Journey 2" for three reasons: Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Hawaii.
The family adventure film was released on Friday, February 10. The 46-year-old actress, known for her role on the "Sex and the City" series, appears in "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" as the mother of Hutcherson's character. In March, the actor can also be seen in the anticipated sci-fi movie "The Hunger Games," which has a massive following, mostly among teenage girls.
When asked what drew her to "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," Davis quickly responded, "Dwayne and Josh."
"I love, love Josh and I really wanted to play his mom," Davis told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Chris Balish at the Los Angeles premiere. "I just think he's so special and so mature and so disciplined and really not what you think of when you think of 'young Hollywood.' I think they've kind of gotten a bad rap and he's just, he's the opposite of all of those things."
"And then Dwayne, I had met before and I knew that he was charming and lovely, obviously, and so I thought, 'Well, yes! Hawaii. Dwayne. Josh. Yes.' Like that. Pretty easy," she added.
The film was released on Friday, February 10. Davis' on-screen son and Hutcherson's character, Sean Anderson, teams up with his mother's stepfather, played by Johnson, on a mission to find his grandfather, who is thought to be missing on a mythical island. Vanessa Hudgens appears in the film as Hutcherson's love interest.
Davis went on to describe her biggest challenge while filming.
"Being up, up in the frame with him (Johnson)," Davis said. "Because I was way down here, and he was way up there, and so I had to wear shoes that looked like a mom would wear them at home but yet would get me anywhere close to that head."
Davis played Charlotte on the long-running HBO show "Sex and the City" and its film adaptations. Like her character, the actress adopted a baby girl, Gemma Rose Davis. She announced the news in October 2011.
"This is something I have wanted for a very long time," Davis told People magazine. "Having this wish come true is even more gratifying than I ever had imagined. I feel so blessed."
Davis is also known for her roles in films such as "Deck the Halls" and "Couples Retreat and works as a global ambassador for Oxfam and a patron for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Davis was honored with the Humane Society's 2011 Wyler Award for her work with orphaned African elephants.
