Kristin Cavallari inspired to 'try harder' on 'Dancing with the Stars'
Kristin Cavallari says "Dancing with the Stars" week 1 has encouraged her to have fun and try "that much harder."
The 24-year-old former star of MTV reality show "The Hills" and actress and two-time champion Ballas, 25, received 19 out of 30 from the judges for their Cha Cha Cha on the season 13 premiere of ABC's hit celebrity ballroom dancing series (read recap). The pair had the highest scoring Cha Cha Cha of the night.
"This is all very new for me and I'm having a good time so hopefully everybody sees that," Cavallari told OnTheRedCarpet.com after the show. "Obviously the judges thinking that I have the capability to be a great dancer makes it that much better and makes me want to try that much harder."
Cavallari also made it clear that she hopes to put her genuine and real personality on display.
"I'm completely different than the girl on 'Laguna Beach' and 'The Hills,'" Cavallari said. "Hopefully my packages will speak for themselves, and people will get to see how I really am."
Contestant Chynna Phillips, known for her work with the musical trio 'Wilson Phillips,' and professional partner Tony Dovolani earned the top score of 22 out of 30 for the night. Contestant J.R. Martinez, known for his service overseas and his work in the ABC daytime drama 'All My Children,' and partner Karina Smirnoff also earned a score of 22, tying the two pairs in first place for the premiere episode.
The 12 pairs return on Tuesday, September 20, and the first couple is expected to be eliminated. Cavallari and Ballas plan to perform the tricky QuickStep routine.
"I have amazing energy because the first dance is over," Cavallari added. "I'm just so happy it's done! I was so nervous before, and I was really quiet - but yeah, it's all fun, and I'm just here to have a good time - nothing too stressful."
