Kristen Stewart had biblical 'Tupac' experience at Coachella with Katy Perry (Video)
Kristen Stewart, star of the "Twilight" films, had quite the biblical experience at the recent Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival with pop star Katy Perry, who was keen on having them get close to what has become an infamous performance of a holographic Tupac.
An image of the slain rapper was projected on stage alongside fellow hip hop star Snoop Dogg, to the delight of the scores of fans who attended the popular April event, which took place during two weekends in the California desert.
"I feel like a weirdo right now - I was with Katy Perry and I walked behind her through the entire ... I mean, she wanted to sit up front and suddenly she was like, 'Hey, do you want to go watch live Tupac stuff ... it'll be awesome," Stewart, 22, said in a recent interview on the ABC talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live. "I suddenly had to put my hat down because we were literally like Moses parting the waves of Coachella getting to the front."
"I was her entourage - I was like, leading her entourage," she added. "It was ridiculous."
"If you ever want to be incognito, just have Katy Perry lead the way for you," host Jimmy Kimmel joked.
"Exactly - no one looks at you," Stewart replied. "It's perfect."
Stewart had stirred controversy in 2010 by saying in an ELLE UK interview that being swarmed by the press was like being raped. She later apologized, following criticism by rape survivor groups, telling Entertainment Weekly she should have used a different metaphor. She also said she no longer feels "freaked out" about being in the spotlight.
Stewart told Kimmel that she is more comfortable about having her picture taken at Coachella, adding: "Every once in a while it's, like, odd. You pull your baseball cap down and it's a done deal."
"My friends are really hilarious, actually. I need to tell them to calm down and cool it and not go up to them and go like, 'Hey! I see you taking a picture right now,'" she added. "It's like, that's perfectly fine."
Stewart said she attended the festival with close childhood friends and that she was happy to finally see her favorite band, the indie rock group The Shins, perform live.
She also talked about the first concert she ever attended - Def Leppard. The "hair metal" rock group, whose song "Rock of Ages" inspired the title of a Broadway jukebox musical that is being made into a movie with Tom Cruise, was most popular in the 1980s.
"Were you a fetus at the time?" Kimmel joked.
Stewart said she attended the concert with her mother.
"It was really fun," she said. "I really liked, really actually, totally inappropriately, I really liked 'Pour Some Sugar On Me." I was like, yeah I like this, it's really good. Sweet stuff."Stewart appeared on the show in a patterned, striped red, grey and black sweater with a white blouse, which peeked out from the bottom, draping over a black mini-skirt. She completed the look with what appeared to be red and white Vans flat sneakers. The actress had recently suffered a foot injury while reshooting final scenes for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2."
She revealed more information about it during her interview with Kimmel.
"I stepped on a nail," she said. "Lucky me. You know what, it's perfect - I wrapped that day. No more Vampire Bella, goodbye."The movie is the fifth "Twilight" film and sees her character, Bella Swan, learning to cope with being a vampire. She sports red eyes in newly-released photos from the movie, which is set to hit theaters in November.
The actress can be seen first in "Snow White and the Huntsman" with Charlize Theron, who recently joked that she would "jump off a building" for Stewart. The movie is set for release on June 1.
