You may know him best as Jon Snow, the man who knows nothing but can definitely wield a sword on "Game Of Thrones," and now, Kit Harington channels his warrior spirit in another role -- as a gladiator.

The 27-year-old British actor stars in the new 3D movie "Pompeii," which is set in the Roman city of the same name in the year AD 79. He plays main character Milo, a gladiator who sets out to rescue a woman, played by Emily Browning, from her husband-to-be, a corrupt senator played by Kiefer Sutherland. Meanwhile, a volcano erupts and destroys their home. The movie is set to be released on Feb. 21.

Watch the interview in full above and check out three highlights below.

1. Kit Harington got dirty.

"For a whole week of filming during the ash part, I wasn't clean," Harington said. "It just wouldn't come out. I'd turned a horrible shade of gray and people just think when you're not on a movie set, people on the street thought I was very ill."

2. On his physical transformation ...

"I wanted to get to do a certain body transformation for the movie," Harington told OTRC.com. "I for a long time wanted to do a movie like that and this gave me a good opportunity to do that, to play a gladiator. They were very physically-fit men and they were well-fed, well-looked after. They were prime to be fighting in the ring. So it was a good opportunity to kind of really go it on a physical transformation level. And then I instantly regretted it about two weeks in."

3. On the stunts in "Pompeii" ...

"It's definitely not all movie magic," Harington said. "It's very real sword-fighting, it's very real horse-riding. The only real, very, special-effects-heavy parts were the volcanic eruption, the lava bombs, some of the big epic scope scenes. Other than that, the sets pretty much were all built. We lived in them and they're all in one massive studio so it became very theatrical spending all of the time in this one place together."
