Kirstie Alley, 60, is a model: Actress walks runway at Zang Toi fashion show in NY (Video)
Kirstie Alley, who famously strutted her post-diet bikini body on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and showed off a slimmer figure on "Dancing With The Stars," recently showcased her modeling skills on a runway and called it her "Cinderella moment."
The 60-year-old actress walked the catwalk at Malaysian designer Zang Toi's Spring 2012 fashion show in New York on Tuesday, September 13. She wore a long-sleeved, royal blue, bejeweled gown with a high neckline and sported a beehive hairstyle.
"'A dream is a wish the Heart makes.' Thank You @ZANGTOI for giving me my Cinderella moment!" Alley Tweeted, referencing a lyric from the hit 1950 animated musical film.
"THANK YOU @ZANGTOI!!!!" she added. "I love you!!! I had the time of my life!!!! Thank You all the REAL Models for letting me share @ZANGTOI runway with you!!!!! You all were sooo sweet and looked soooo gorgeous!!!"
New York's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is set to continue until September 15.
@kirstiealley WOWED them all @ZANGTOI Runway!" Toi said on his Twitter page, adding that the actress was "HOT HOT HOT," and "STUNNING and REGAL."
Alley rose to fame with the 1980s sitcom "Cheers" and played a former model on the comedy series "Veronica's Closet" in the late 1990s.
The actress has battled weight problems throughout her life and has in recent years poked fun at the issue on her own television shows, such as "Fat Actress" and "Kirstie Alley's Big Life," and on "The Late Show with David Letterman" in July.
She won praise in 2006 when she showed off a slimmer bikini body on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" after losing 75 pounds on the Jenny Craig program. She later regained the weight, then dropped 50 pounds in late 2010.
Earlier this year, she was mocked about her weight by comedian and talk show host George Lopez, who later apologized. Alley continues to try to maintain a healthy lifestyle and launched her own diet program called Organic Liaison, which has been praised by the actress' friend and actress Kelly Preston.
Also earlier this year, Alley competed on the ABC ballroom dancing series "Dancing With The Stars." She and partner Maks Chmerkovskiy placed second. Alley also shed several pounds during her time on the show.
Nicole Volynets, a professional dancer who studied with Chmerkovskiy, also praised Alley's fashion show appearance, Tweeting: Kirstiealley looking like the goddess she is in @zangtoi walking the cat ;).".
Talk show host Ricki Lake, who is one of the contestants of the upcoming 13th season of "Dancing With The Stars," says she agreed to compete on the show after watching actress Alley overcome hurdles on the previous season.
Lake, 42, echoed her praise late on Tuesday, Tweeting: "@kirstiealley Wow! You are a goddess! Yes, indeed an inspiration to me! #DWTS."
