Kim Kardashian's divorce delayed by Kris Humphries' 'hurt feelings'?
Kim Kardashian has made it clear that she wants to move forward with her divorce from Kris Humphries and her lawyer claims that the basketball player's "hurt feelings" have stalled proceedings.
On May 4, Kardashian's attorney Laura Wasser said that the case should move forward, while Humphries' attorney wanted more time to put together a case alleging that the 72-day marriage was fraudulent.
"I feel that (Humphries') personal feelings and maybe some media drive is keeping this case alive," Wasser told the judge. "Certainly, they've been separated longer than they've been married."
Wasser said the couple is eligible for a divorce as it has been more than six months since Kardashian filed her petition and warned that if the case does go to trial, Humphries will face hefty legal fees.
Lawyers from both sides are scheduled to return to court for a status hearing on August 15. Neither Kardashian nor Humphries attended the proceedings on Friday.
Kardashian, 31, and NBA player Humphries, 27, began dating in late 2010 and starred in the E! reality show, "Kourtney and Kim Take New York."
The wedding took place on August 20 under tight security at a $20 million estate near Santa Barbara. More than 500 people, including celebrities, attended the highly-publicized event, which was also filmed for the E! special "Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event."
The reality star filed for divorce on October 31 at a Los Angeles court, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. This was Kardashian's second marriage.
In November, the basketball player filed an annulment of his 72-day marriage to Kim Kardashian, citing fraud. The documents also stated that Humphries would seek a legal separation instead of a divorce, if his annulment is denied.
Kardashian has recently been romantically linked to rapper Kanye West, 34, but the reality star remains coy about the nature of their relationship.
West's recent single "Theraflu" contains the line, "I fell in love with Kim" and the two have been seen together in public several times over the past few months, which has earned them an online nickname - "Kimye." Kardashian has also been recently photographed sporting gold-and-diamond-studded earrings in the shape of his initials - "KW," as seen on the website of the New York Daily News.
In April, it was announced that "Keeping up with the Kardashians" and its various spin-off shows have been renewed for another three years. While details weren't disclosed, TMZ reported that the deal cost the network at least $40 million, which would make it the biggest deal in reality TV history.
