Kim Kardashian pregnant, looking forward to 'starting a family' with Kanye West
Kim Kardashian says she is looking forward to starting a family, in what marks her first public comments since boyfriend Kanye West announced that the two are expecting their first child together.
West had spilled the beans on Sunday to the crowd at a concert in Atlantic City that was attended by several of Kardashian's family members and co-stars of her E! Entertainment reality show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," including her sisters Kourtney, Khloe and Kendall and mother Kris Jenner. Kardashian's rep later confirmed the news.
"It's true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby," Kardashian, 32, said in a message posted on her official website on Monday, December 31. "We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo"
The 35-year-old rapper's mother, Donda, died in 2007 at age 58 of complications from cosmetic surgery. West's father, Ray, heads the The Good Water Store and Café and the purified water company Westar Waterworks in Lexington Park, Maryland.
The reality star and Los Angeles socialite and West went public with their romance in April. Kardashian is currently still married to her second husband, NBA player Kris Humphries. She had filed for divorce in October 2011 -- 72 days after their wedding, which was filmed for an E! special. She is seeking a divorce settlement. He wants an annulment, claiming their marriage was a fraud, which she denies.
This will be the third baby born to the famous family in recent years. Kourney Kardashian and boyfriend Scott Disick have a son, Mason, and welcomed a baby daughter, Penelope, in July. They also appear in "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and its spin-off shows.
Kardashian's family members posted messages on Twitter expressing their excitement about West's announcement.
"KIMYE!!" her sister Khloe Kardashian Odom said, referring to the nickname used to describe the couple. "Keeping secrets is hard with so many family members! Especially when you are so freaking excited!!!!! LOVE is everything!!!!"
Her husband, NBA player Lamar Odom, added: "I'm excited for Kanye and my sister! There's nothing like bringing life into this world! Let's keep Gods blessings coming!"
"Been wanting to shout from the rooftops with joy and now I can! Another angel to welcome to our family. Overwhelmed with excitement!" Kourtney Kardashian Tweeted.
Kardashian's mother Tweeted: "Im a happy girl !!!!!!!!! Wowza! Oh BABY BABY BABY!! (sic)"
"Whos excited about the KIMYE babbyyy?! :D weeee," said Kendall Jenner.
