Kim Kardashian opens up about psoriasis on reality show
Kim Kardashian was diagnosed with psoriasis on Sunday's episode of E!'s "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," which spiked a search for the skin condition on the web.
The reality star sought the advice of a dermatologist after finding flaky patched of skin on her legs. The diagnosis caused Kardashian to lash out at her mother, who is also afflicted with the incurable autoimmune disorder.
"People don't understand the pressure on me to look perfect," Kardashian said on the show. "When I gain a pound, it's in the headlines. Imagine what the tabloids would do to me if they saw all these spots?"
When her dermatologist suggested she lead an "easier, slower paced life," the busy Kardashian said "That's just not possible."
"When the doctor tells me I have psoriasis, I have heard of it before, because my mom [Kris Jenner] has always had it," Kardashian said before confronting her mom, calling her "the disease carrier" and demanding she cancel a commercial shoot the following day.
Towards the end of the episode, Kardashian calmed down enough to appear in the Sketchers commercial after the makeup artist said the patches could be easily concealed.
Kardashian celebrated her bachelorette party in Las Vegas on Saturday night and ended up crashing her fiancé Kris Humphries' bachelor party. The 30-year-old reality star celebrated her final few weeks of single life at Tao Las Vegas with friends and sisters Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian.
Kardashian and Humphries began dating in December 2010 and the basketball player proposed in May with a $1 million, 20.5 carat engagement ring.
Humphries, who plays for the New Jersey Nets, will be the second NBA player to join the family since Khloe married Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom in 2009. But while Khloe's wedding came together in just 9 days of planning, she predicts that her sister will "go big."
"Kim goes big. It's not going to be small. And I joke and I say it will be like the Royal Wedding, because she is just like that," Khloe Kardashian told People earlier in the month. "I don't want to help because Kim is going to be such a bridezilla! If I do one thing wrong, I'll be screwed! But I would love to be in the wedding."
