Kid Cudi surprised fans by dropping a new album on Monday, Feb. 24.

The album, titled "Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon," was released on iTunes. The move is similar to the way Beyonce recently debuted her latest album, by simply making it available exclusively on iTunes with little to no promotion beforehand.

Cudi had indicated in a January interview with MTV that the album would be out the following month, but never mentioned a specific date. He also said the album would only be available digitally at first on iTunes.

"Time to make the world stand still," Cudi cryptically tweeted before the album became available for digital download.

The 30-year-old rapper, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, also hinted in a tweet at a possible physical release of the album.

"The date says April 29 2014 but thats a glitch. Or is it ;)," he wrote with a link to the album in the iTunes store.

"Satellite Flight" is the follow up to Cudi's 2013 album "Indicud." It features 10 tracks and the rapper recently told MTV that the album, which was initially supposed to be just an EP, is meant to bridge the conceptual gap between "Indicud" and his upcoming 2015 album "Man on the Moon III."

"It starts where 'Indicud' left off perfectly, and takes you right into 'Man on the Moon III,'" he told MTV. Cudi later added, "'Man on the Moon III' will go back to that whole breakdown and this comes back to that tradition, with the acts and everything being seamlessly in order."

The rapper's Twitter feed quickly filled with retweets from fans expressing positive support of the new album. He later tweeted, "Are we enjoying the ride everyone? I am! I love u all so much, I do it all for u, forever. We are one! Cud Fam!!"

Cudi is also an actor and has a role in the upcoming film "Need for Speed." It was recently reported by Deadline that he will play Ari Gold's assistant in the "Entourage" film.
