Kevin Hart, Ice Cube talk 'Ride Along': 3 highlights (Video)
Kevin Hart and Ice Cube star in the new comedy film "Ride Along" where Hart plays Ben, a security guard trying to deal with his girlfriend's overprotective brother James (Ice Cube), who just happens to be a cop.
Ben then accompanies James on a 24-hour patrol of Atlanta in order to prove to him that he is worthy of his sister.
The two recently talked to OTRC.com about the film and joked around with each other about Ice Cube's age. Check out three highlights from their interview below and check out a video of their interview above.
1. Ice Cube calls Kevin Hart one of the most quick-witted comedians he's ever seen.
"You have to sit back because you don't want to step on the magic," Ice Cube said about working with Hart. "Kevin, he always comes with it. He's one of the most witty, quick-witted comedians that I've ever seen, let alone worked with."
"You definitely have to be on your toes," he added. "You know, much more than a lot of the other comedians that I've worked with. You just don't know what's going to come out of that foul mouth."
2. Ice Cube could make Kevin Hart feel intimidated.
When asked if there were times during filming that Ice Cube would give him a certain intimidating look, Hart replied, "It helped. It helped a lot, because, you know, a lot of my stuff was being intimidated."
"There were moments in the film where I felt that, you know, 'I'm going to stand up to him and that's it I'm sick of it' and that look just instantly made me backpedal."
3. Kevin Hart claims Ice Cube had to ice his knees after running scenes.
Hart joked about calling Ice Cube "Pop Pop" on set.
"The age difference was a struggle for me, but it's cool because he's a good guy, but he's old," Hart said. "His knees are bad, but the thing that's really good about him is that he's a great guy, man, and I respect him."
When the two were talking about a possible sequel to the film, Hart said to Ice Cube, "Who knows how your knees are gonna be then? Those running scenes were a struggle for old Cube here. We had to ice him down after every take."
"Ride Along" was released in theaters on Friday, Jan. 17.
