Sometimes the best apologies come in threes.

Kevin Bacon says he is "truly sorry" for sharing with his Twitter fans a spoiler about his FOX thriller series, "The Following."

The actor had reposted a Tweet about the show soon after the latest episode aired in the United States on Monday night. The message contained new information about his character.

"To all the fans abroad and late watchers I'm truly sorry I retweeted a spoiler. I just wasn't thinking. Won't happen again. #MyBad," he said on Twitter the following morning.

He also posted a selfie Vine video of himself saying it, while wearing a pair of sunglasses.

"My bad, my bad, my bad," he said.

"The Following" creator Kevin Williamson did not comment about the matter but he did give a shoutout to some overseas viewers on his own Twitter page.

"Thank you for watching Australia," he said. "Hope you enjoyed the premiere! @TheFollowingFOX."

"The Following" debuted in the United States on January 21. More than 10.4 people watched the show's premiere, which earned a rating of 3.2 among adults between ages 18 and 49. The series has received an average rating of 2.2 over the past two weeks.

A Tweet with a potential spoiler about "The Following" remains on Bacon's Twitter feed.
