Kevin Bacon announced as Golden Globes presenter
Kevin Bacon will be one of five new presenters for the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 16, according to a press release issued by The Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Other presenters include Dame Helen Mirren, Kevin Spacey, Vanessa Williams and "True Grit" actress Hailee Steinfeld.
Kevin Bacon's prolific acting career spurred a "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" trivia game and he has most recently appeared as a nerdy Kevin Bacon fan in a commercial promoting Logitech Revue, a gadget that allows viewers to watch Google TV. Check out Kevin Bacon's ad below.
Bacon, who is also gearing up to star in the new "X-Men" film "X-Men: First Class", and his actress wife Kyra Sedgwick made headlines in December 2008 when it was revealed they were among those who lost money on investments connected to Bernard Madoff, who ran a some $65 billion Ponzi scheme. Madoff, 72, is serving a 150-year sentence in a federal prison.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association previously announced that the other presenters will include Robert Pattinson, Julie Bowen, Sandra Bullock, Kaley Cuoco, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Jimmy Fallon, Garrett Hedlund, Chris Hemsworth, LL Cool J, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez, Leighton Meester and Bruce Willis.
The awards will be hosted by British comedian Ricky Gervais, who is most famous for being one of the creators and writers of the original British version "The Office," and was also a producer in the American version.
Matt Damon will also be on the program to present Robert DeNiro with the Cecil B. DeMille Award. While Gia Mantegna, a 20-year-old actress and daughter of actor Joe Mantegna, has been named Miss Golden Globe 2011 for the ceremony. Check out the full list of nominations.
The show will air live on NBC from 8:00-11:00 p.m. (EST) from the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
