Kerry Washington talks SeaWorld, 'Scandal' Twitter hangover
Kerry Washington might have traded in Olivia Pope's fashionable wardrobe on "Scandal" for a wetsuit when she was younger.
The 36-year-old actress appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Thursday, Oct. 17, and revealed that when she was a child, she wanted to be a trainer for a Shamu show at SeaWorld. Video of her interview can be viewed below.
"The thing I really wanted to be when I grew up was the woman in the Shamu show. You know like with the killer whale at SeaWorld and like standing on the nose of the whale, you come out of the water and it's magical," Washington told Kimmel. "And you get to tell the dolphins what to do. This was my dream."
"And so, I studied really hard. I got really into marine biology ... I was really into it and then I got to AP bio in high school," Washington added. "And the joke in my family is that I was like, 'Forget the whale, I'll be on stage by myself,' and that's when Kerry Washington was born."
Kimmel joked,"You could've been walking around with buckets of chum right now had that dream been realized."
"I know," Washington said with a laugh. "Instead I'm on 'Scandal.'"
After playing a clip from next week's episode of "Scandal," Kimmel asked Washington about the cast live-tweeting episodes.
"We all do, the whole cast does and a lot of our crew, actually, live-tweets. Directors, producers, key grips, wardrobe people, we're all live-tweeting during the show," Washington told Kimmel.
Kimmel later asked Washington if she is watching the show for the first time when she is tweeting about it.
"No, there's no way you can because when we're actually tweeting, it's like an athletic event. My thumbs hurt in the morning," Washington said. "I wake up in the morning with a total Twitter hangover. My eyes hurt, my head hurts."
