Kelsey Grammer opens up about new grandson, wants him to call him 'Kelsey'
Kelsey Grammer, whose oldest daughter Spencer recently welcomed a son, said he wants his new grandson to call him by his first name.
"He's just gonna call me Kelsey. I called my granddad Gordon, that was his name," Grammer told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Rachel Smith. "You know, it made Gordon seem really available to me when I was a kid. So I want to hopefully forge that kind of a relationship with my grandson Emmet."
Grammer's daughter Spencer, 28, who was born to the actor's first wife Doreen Alderman, welcomed her first child, son Emmett Emmanual Hesketh, on October 10, with her husband James Hesketh.
Grammer said that he has yet to meet his grandson, but was present at the hospital the night his daughter gave birth.
"I haven't seen him face-to-face," Grammer told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "I was there when he started his entrance but he didn't quite come in time because I had to fly to Australia... but we got pictures the next morning. It was very exciting."
Spencer, who starred in the ABC Family comedy series "Greek," was Grammer's only child with Alderman, a dance instructor who Grammer was married to from 1982 to 1990.
Grammer's third wife Camille, mother of their son and daughter and a 43-year-old cast member of the Bravo reality show "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," filed for divorce in July 2010 after some 13 years of marriage. Their separation was finalized in February.
Grammer later married Kayte Walsh, a 30-year-old British flight attendant, on stage at the Longacre Theatre in New York, where the actor starred in a revival of the musical "La Cage aux Folles."
Kelsey Grammer has been married three times before. Kelsey Grammer and former stripper Leigh-Anne Csuhany were married from 1992 to 1993 and have no children. During this time, he had a daughter, Greer, out of wedlock.
The 56-year-old actor played Dr. Frasier Crane in the long-running sitcoms "Frasier" and "Cheers."
Grammer is currently promoting his new drama series "Boss," which sees him playing a ruthless mayor of Chicago. "The show debuts on the Starz cable network on October 21 at 10 p.m. ET. You can also watch it online and check out a trailer and a clip below.
