Kelly Preston credits Kevin Spacey for getting her through her son's tragic death
John Travolta's wife, actress Kelly Preston, who co-starred with Kevin Spacey in "Casino Jack" credits the actor with helping her through her son Jett's tragic death during the filming of their film.
"[Spacey] was a lifesaver, really. I mean, at that point, I really didn't want to go back to work," Preston said on the Today show on January 19. "They condensed my work down to a couple of weeks, which was really nice. But every day, he's so... he's so naturally funny. And he made me laugh. And that was the greatest- the greatest gift he could've given to me while we were working."
Preston and Travolta's son Jett died suddenly of a seizure in January 2009, while the family was vacationing in the Bahamas. The couple welcomed a baby boy named Benjamin on November 24, 2010. Travolta recently said that his new son gave his home a "renewed spirit and purpose."
Kevin Spacey has said that he plans on doing a lot more movies in the next few years, thanks to the success of his Golden Globe nominated role in "Casino Jack." The actor has spent much of his time out of the spotlight in London, where he is the artistic director of the famed Old Vic theatre.
"I spent 12 years being driven, having my own personal ambition about making it in the movies. It went better than I could have hoped. And then I went, 'OK, now what?'" Spacey recently told USA Today. "I want to do something else, so I made a left turn. Over the next five years, I'll be doing more film. Now I want to begin to build the kind of work I like to do."
The 51-year-old actor won Oscars for his role in the films "American Beauty" and "The Usual Suspects". He was recently nominated, but did not win a Golden Globe Award nomination for his part in the movie "Casino Jack", which tells of a Washington, D.C. lobbyist involved in a major corruption scandal and is based on the career of Jack Abramoff, who served more than three years in prison.
Spacey will star in the upcoming movie, "Horrible Bosses" with Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Colin Farrell, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day and Jamie Foxx.
