Kelly Osbourne: Miley Cyrus has 'learned her lesson'
Kelly Osbourne says Miley Cyrus has "learned her lesson", almost two weeks after a video of the teenage "Hannah Montana" star smoking out of a bong was leaked online.
Osbourne, the 26-year-old daughter of heavy metal rocker Ozzy, stars with Cyrus, who turned 18 earlier this month, in the new sorority comedy movie "So Undercover". They shot scenes for the 2011 film in New Orleans earlier this month.
"Miley and I have become really close," Osbourne wrote on her Twitter page earlier this week. "I'm sick of all the haters judging her. She made one mistake and trust me she has learned her lesson! Miley is one of the most hard working respectful women I have ever worked with I am learning a lot from her!"
Osbourne did not elaborate. She posted a photo of the two holding cupcakes as well as one of herself standing beside Cyrus and wearing a wig resembling her hairstyle. "I'm just being Miley!!!!" Osbourne Tweeted, echoing a phrase that has often used in gossip stories about Cyrus posted on entertainment websites.
Cyrus has not commented publicly on the video posted earlier this month on TMZ that showed her smoking out of a bong, swearing and laughing uncontrollably.
Cyrus' spokesperson denied comment on the footage. TMZ reported she was smoking the natural herb salvia, which is legal in California and has hallucinogenic effects.
Cyrus' father Billy Ray, a rock singer who is also her costar on "Hannah Montana", said on his Twitter page half a day after the video was posted: "Sorry guys. I had no idea. Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. Im so sad. There is much beyond my control right now."
Cyrus began her acting career when she was eight and rose to fame with "Hannah Montana," a Disney Channel series that is set to end next year, after the current fourth season. She starred in her first major film, "The Last Song", with on-again, off-again boyfriend Liam Hemsworth earlier this year
Cyrus has said she has outgrown the series and also caused some controversy earlier this year when she showcased a more mature image in performances and music videos, which marked a sharp contrast to her "good-girl" "Hannah Montana" persona seen on the show. The actress and singer says she has changed since she began filming the show.
"So Undercover" tells of a private detective who is hired by the FBI to go undercover in a college sorority. It is Osbourne's second movie. The former "Osbournes" star and "Dancing With the Stars" contestant recently filmed the comedy "Should've Been Romeo," which marked her big screen debut and is also due to hit theaters in 2011.
Cyrus also stars in the 2011 film "LOL: Laughing Out Loud" with Demi Moore and plays a girl who deals with high school romances and friendships as well as overbearing parents.
