Kelly Clarkson talks pregnancy, weight: 'Everybody calls me fat'
Kelly Clarkson is relishing in her newly-announced pregnancy.
The singer, who announced on Twitter on Nov. 19 that she and new-husband Brandon Blackstock were expecting their first child, says she cannot wait to welcome her new addition, telling Parade magazine she thinks she is "totally gonna have a girl."
"My eggs aren't getting any younger, so we've already started trying," Clarkson said to Parade magazine in an interview posted on Nov. 21. "I'm totally gonna have a girl. I'm manifesting it! And when I have a girl, you're gonna be like, 'That chick knew it!'"
Clarkson is already a step-parent to Blackstock's two children from a previous relationship, a daughter named Savannah and a son named Seth. The couple were married in a private ceremony at Blackberry Farms in Tennessee on Oct. 20, 2013.
The singer also stated that she had been looking forward to becoming pregnant, as it will silence critics who comment extensively on her weight.
"Everybody calls me fat all the time, so I can't wait to have a reason, instead of everybody just being a jerk," Clarkson said.
Clarkson also told Parade magazine that she will not succumb to pressure to rapidly drop the baby weight after the birth of her child, warning critics she is not a model and is setting a low standard so that people don't expect a lot from her.
"I've never been Gisele Bundchen, so ain't nobody expectin' that," Clarkson said. "I like to set a [low] standard so people don't expect a lot."
The start of Clarkson's pregnancy is proving to be a busy one for the singer. She is currently promoting a new Christmas album, titled "Wrapped in Red," which will be featured in a new NBC holiday special, titled "Kelly Clarkson's Cautionary Christmas Music Tale," airing on Dec. 11.
