Kelly Clarkson releases 'People Like Us' video - watch
Kelly Clarkson is singing for the "misfits" in her new music video.
The "American Idol" alum, who is currently promoting the release of her compilation album, "Greatest Hits: Chapter One," debuted the music video for her new single "People Like Us" on Tuesday, May 28.
The video shows the singer dressed in a conservative lab coat in a black-and-white world. There's one young girl -- depicted in technicolor -- who Clarkson appears to be trying to secretly rescue.
By the end of the video, the pair escape their grayscale world to enter a bright and colorful place -- away from the scientists that were chasing them the entire time -- to meet up with their fellow "misfits."
"People like us we've gotta stick together / Keep your head up, nothing lasts forever," she sings in the song's chorus. "Here's to the damned, to the lost and forgotten / It's hard to get high when you're living on the bottom."
The pop star, who is set to support Maroon 5 on their 2013 Honda Civic Tour this summer, debuted the single in early April. The track marks the final new release that's featured on the 2012 compilation record, which largely contains material from her previous five albums.
The starlet, 31, Tweeted about the video's release on May 24, posting: "Hey y'all my video for 'People Like Us' will premiere on Tuesday, May 28th on @VEVO!! It's so freaking awesome! I hope y'all dig it! :)"
Clarkson wrapped her Stronger Tour in 2012. The performer's last full-length album was her 2011 release, "Stronger," which featured singles "Mr. Know It All" and "What Doesn't Kill You."
