Katy Perry's mom not shopping tell-all book, dad says
Katy Perry's mother, Mary Perry Hudson, is not preparing to pen a book detailing her feelings about her daughter's career despite recent reports, says her father Keith Hudson, an evangelical Christian pastor.
Perry, a 26-year-old pop star, rose to fame with the 2008 song "I Kissed a Girl" and was named Maxim magazine's No. 1 girl on its Hot 100 list in 2010. The singer is known for her skimpy and colorful outfits and was famously cut out of a "Sesame Street" episode for showing too much cleavage in a segment.
News outlets such as New York Magazine, the Huffington Post and E! News quoted a New York Post report that said Perry's mother was "shopping a proposal on how her daughter's racy lyrics, 'foul-mouthed fiance' - now husband Russell Brand - and suggestive outfits have affected her Christian ministry."
"It is totally wrong," Keith Hudson said in a statement to OnTheRedCarpet.com, regarding the report. "We love Katy and never hurt her but the press would like to."
Both of Perry's parents are Christian evangelists from Santa Barbara, California.
"They sound like the typical California couple; Mom danced with guitarist Jimi Hendrix, their daughter headlines some of the world's venues singing her 'Top 10' hits, and then there's that new son-in-law scoffing everything near and dear to the American dream from religion to apple pie," a message on Keith Hudson's website reads.
Perry married foul-mouthed British comedian and actor Russell Brand in 2010.
The song "E.T." recently rose to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart, marking the fourth track from "Teenage Dream" to top it.
