Katy Perry: I'm tired of being famous already
Katy Perry has been in the spotlight since releasing her 2008 hit "I Kissed A Girl," but the singer said she is over being famous now.
"I'm tired of being famous already! But I'm not tired of creating," Perry told Teen Vogue for their May cover story. "Fame is, I think, just a disgusting by-product of what I do. It's quite a delicate creature - it's a wild animal of sorts. It can love you, and then it can attack you."
"I still want to be as approachable and relatable as possible," Perry continued. "When I meet fans and they're crying, I'll say, 'Calm down, there's nothing to cry about. I'm not going to bite you or attack you or grant you three wishes. Let's just hang out and have a good time.' But really, I stopped focusing on what other people think a while ago. If you try to be everything to everyone, you'll only end up completely confused."
The 27-year-old pop star announced last week that her 3D concert movie, "Katy Perry: Part of Me" would hit theaters over the 4th of July weekend. The documentary will feature performances and behind-the-scenes shots from her California Dreams tour.
"One of my main reasons for doing this is that people think of me as though I'm Dorothy in the ruby slippers," Perry said of decision to do a concert movie. "I want them to see everything else that's involved. Yes, I am her, but at the end of it all, I'm also the guy behind the curtain."
The blue-haired singer also opened up to the teen fashion magazine about her desire to explore acting. She has had guest appearances on "How I Met Your Mother" and "Raising Hope," but has her sights set on the big screen.
"There was a time when I was going to be involved in 'The Help' - just a small part, I wasn't going to be Emma Stone or anything - but I couldn't because the shooting schedule conflicted with the release of my record," Perry said. "And I was upset about that - I knew it was going to be an important film. Not that I need to do drama first, but I do want to do something that makes a strong impression. You don't really get off the hook being a musician first... I feel like the stakes are really high."
Over the weekend, Perry appeared at the Kids' Choice Awards in a green slime crop top and earned the award for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie for voicing Smurfette in "The Smurfs." Check out the full list of winners from the event here.
Perry was recently in the news for rumors that she is dating male model Baptiste Giabiconi. However, she insisted on her Twitter page that she was "#singleandsatisfied."
The singer split from husband Russell Brand late last year. The 36-year-old comedian cited "irreconcilable differences" in the documents, which were filed in a Los Angeles Superior Court on December 30. The couple had no children together.
