Katy Perry celebrates 29th birthday, performs 'Roar' at school (Video)
Katy Perry celebrated her 29th birthday by performing a private concert for students at a Colorado high school. The students recently won a lip dub video contest for "Good Morning America." Video of Perry's performance can be seen below.
High school students all over the country were asked to submit their own lip dub videos set to Perry's single "Roar," which is off her new album "Prism" (Check out a track-by-track review of the album here). Perry chose Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Colorado to win the contest.
Perry performed at the school, whose mascot is a tiger, on Friday, Oct. 25, the same date as her 29th birthday. She appeared at the concert wearing the school's cheerleading costume. Perry sang "Roar," her new single "Walking on Air" and her hit single "Firework."
The school also presented Perry with a custom Varsity letter jacket.
"I'm 29. I feel great," Perry said after her "Roar" performance. "I still feel like I'm 13 sometimes. Obviously you can tell by my music and my spirit. I'm so excited about this record and I just love all the participation and the unification ... of all of you guys coming together and roaring."
Perry later Tweeted, "Thanks for a GREAT morning LAKEWOOD HIGH! Keep #ROARING!"
