Katie Leclerc and RJ Mitte talk 'Switched at Birth': 3 highlights
The ABC Family show "Switched at Birth" returned for its third season in mid-January and it features former "Breaking Bad" star RJ Mitte as Campbell, a premed student who is a possible love interest for Katie Leclerc's character Daphne.
Mitte and Leclerc talked to OTRC.com recently and Mitte joked about "Switched at Birth" being very different from "Breaking Bad."
"It's night and day. It's very -- two different walking situations," Mitte said with a laugh.
Leclerc replied, "You went from crutches to a wheel chair, so..."
"I regressed," Mitte said.
The two also revealed a few things coming up this season including Daphne's interesting love life and a dance episode. Check out three highlights below and watch their interview above.
1. Daphne's love triangle.
"There's a triangle right now," Leclerc said about her character's love life.
"There's a little bit of a tug-of-war pull at the moment," Mitte added. "If you saw Campbell (played by Mitte) you also saw Jorge (David Castaneda). We work together and it's a little gray area."
Leclerc added, "Daphne's sort of like, 'You're both fantastic. You guys have an arm wrestle. Let me know who the winner is. I'll date that one.' So I'm kind of like good with both."
2. The show has "stepped up" its guest star game this season.
We have amazing guest stars this season," Leclerc said. "Not even just our story line. Sandra Bernhard, Max Adler [of 'Glee']. We stepped up our guest star game. That's all I'm saying."
3. There's a dance episode coming up soon.
Leclerc revealed that the eighth episode of the season will be a dance episode.
Mitte, whose character is in a wheelchair, said that dancing in the chair wasn't very difficult for him.
"It's not hard to dance in a chair, but if you're used to a chair, you can do anything in a chair," Mitte said. "That's the thing people don't realize is -- and that's the main thing I do like about the show that I mention it all the time is that the show shows people living a normal life."
"They may happen to have this, but, they cannot -- nothing can stop them. They can do whatever they want," he added. "They can do whatever their heart or mind wants. And that's the thing. That's real life. If you want something bad enough, you will get it. You will obtain it."
Lecerc added, "You might have to work harder for it, but you'll get there."
"Switched at Birth" airs on Mondays on ABC Family at 8 p.m. ET.
