Katie Holmes taps Tom Cruise's eldest daughter as an apprentice
Tom Cruise's eldest daughter, Isabella "Bella" Cruise, has joined in on Katie Holmes' fashion label, Holmes & Yang, as an apprentice, according to People.
"Kate's designing and [Bella] is just working her way up," Tom Cruise told the magazine on Thursday at the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Museum of Tolerance National Tribute Dinner, where he was honored with the Humanitarian Award, the highest honor given by the organization.
He added, "She's an artist, Bella, so it's really great that she gets to work with it. She's loving it."
Cruise adopted Isabella, 18, and his son Connor, 16, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman. The actor also has a daughter, Suri, 5, with Katie Holmes. Holmes and Cruise married in 2006.
Holmes debuted her collection for Holmes & Yang in March. The actress she says is inspired by actress Diane Keaton.
Holmes, 32, and Keaton, 65, starred together in the 2008 comedy film "Mad Money." Keaton has in recent years been seen sporting a look similar to the famous one she donned in the 1977 Woody Allen film "Annie Hall," which features a derby hat.
Holmes' fall 2011 collection is now available at Barneys in New York City and includes camisoles, suits, gowns and more. Pieces range from $325 to thousands of dollars.
The inspiration of the line is real people "mixed with Diane Keaton," the New York Times quoted Holmes as saying. "For spring we started to do some prints and for fall we're doing more color."
Holmes has said that one of her hobbies is making clothes and told Women's Wear Daily that her husband, actor Tom Cruise, bought her a sewing machine for her birthday in December.
