Katie Holmes talks Father's Day 'surprises' and inspiration
There's no word yet on what Katie Holmes thinks of her husband Tom Cruise's new "Rock of Ages" persona, but the actress does have some Father's Day surprises planned for the actor.
"There are some surprises and we're really excited," Holmes told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Rachel Smith before the "Women In Film" group's recent Crystal + Lucy Awards ceremony. "We're going to be in Miami because my husband is filming 'Rock of Ages.'"
The "Batman Begins" actress was honored with the Max Mara "Face of the Future" Award at the event.
"It's very exciting," Holmes said of the honor. "I've been inspired by so many women who are here tonight and so many women in Hollywood and so many people in Hollywood, so it's just lovely and I feel very lucky."
Holmes will next appear in the horror movie "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," which is slated for release on August 26, 2011. Guy Pearce co-stars in the film, which was scripted by "Pan's Labyrinth" writer/director Guillermo del Toro.
"I've really enjoyed all the roles that I've been given," Holmes said at the event. "I think you always try to approach every project with the best intentions and you try your best. And when you're living, you try to live a good life."
The actress recently tapped Cruise's eldest daughter Isabella "Bella" Cruise as an apprentice at her fashion line, Holmes & Yang.
Cruise adopted Isabella, 18, and his son Connor, 16, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman. The actor also has a daughter, Suri, 5, with Holmes. Holmes and Cruise married in 2006.
