Katherine Heigl talks working with Jon Bon Jovi: 'He's so down to earth'

12/11/2011 by Nichole Hamilton

Katherine Heigl dished about working with Jon Bon Jovi as her love interest in "New Years Eve," as well as working with director Garry Marshall.

Heigl, known for films such as "Knocked Up" and "The Ugly Truth," portrays a caterer, Laura, in the 2011 film "New Year's Eve." When she reunites with her ex-flame turned rock-and-roll sensation, Jensen (Jon Bon Jovi), tensions mount for the couple and old feelings are rekindled.

"It's been really amazing to get to work with Jon," Heigl said in an interview provided by Warner Bros. Pictures. "He's an iconic rock legend."

"You know you have that first moment before you actually meet and you're kind of going, 'Gosh, I don't know, is he cool? I hope he's cool - I hope I don't come off like a creepy, crazy fan,'" Heigl added. "He's just the nicest guy, and so down to earth."

Along with working with the legendary Bon Jovi, "New Year's Eve" is directed by "Valentine's Day" director Garry Marshall, and Heigl gushed about working with the "successful" director.

"I think the most exceptional thing about Garry Marshall is that he's just through and through a really great guy," Heigl said. "He's just a good person. This is a man who's had so much success in his chosen profession - I think you would assume that maybe he'd have more of an ego or maybe he would be more demanding or impatient, but he's just unbelievably kind and generous to everybody."

"He does have this wonderful group of people around him that he works with repeatedly," she continued. "So you have this sort of very familiar and comfortable vibe of people who really enjoy each other, who like each other, who choose to be here with one another over and over again, and that says a lot about the man helming the ship."

Heigl, 33, starred alongside one of her "New Years Eve" co-stars, Josh Duhamel, in the 2010 film "Life as We Know It," which held the box office lead in its first weekend.

The actress also recently starred in the animal rights PSA, "I Hate Balls," in November (See video).

"New Year's Eve" boasts a star-packed cast that includes the likes of Jessica Biel, Halle Berry, Sarah Jessica Parker, Josh Duhamel, Alyssa Milano, Sofía Vergara, Seth Meyers and Robert De Niro.

"New Year's Eve" opened in theaters on December 9, 2011. Watch the trailer below.
