Katherine Heigl talks 'One for the Money' and doing nude scenes - See video
Katherine Heigl hits the big screen again as a tough talking New Jersey bounty hunter in "One for the Money" and Heigl dished to OnTheRedCarpet.com about nailing the Jersey accent, working with "raunchy" Debbie Reynolds and doing her nude scene for the movie.
In the film, which is based on the detective series by Janet Evanovich, Heigl covers dons a curly brunette wig to play Stephanie Plum, an amateur bounty hunter who must track down an old boyfriend, played by Jason O'Mara, who dumped her when she was in high school. Daniel Sunjata plays a man who helps her hone her bounty-hunting skills.
"One For The Money" also stars veteran actress Reynolds, 79, and Sherri Shepherd. The 44-year-old co-host of the ABC daytime talk show "The View" plays a prostitute named Lula.
Heigl has a brief nude scene where O'Mara catches her in the shower. The actress said they shot the scene quickly but filming those scenes can always be a bit "weird."
"We got it over with pretty quickly but I put little bits and things on me to protect the real -- that's almost more absurd than just being naked," Heigl told George Pennacchio of KABC Television, OnTheRedCarpet.com's parent company. "I have to always wonder what the crew is thinking. I look like a Barbie. I have no nipples and -- it's weird."
Heigl also said she wanted to get elements of the book correct, right down to how often her character eats.
"She never stops eating, it was driving me nuts and it was my own thing," Heigl said. "Like it wasn't necessarily in the script but I was like, 'It's in the books. She has to be eating in every scene!' So, I did it to myself."
"It was a lot of food. Tastykakes and Doritos," she added.
The actress also said she had to work hard to make sure her New Jersey accent for the character worked. "I'm hoping that it's close enough that the rest of the world that doesn't necessarily know the specifics of that accent will buy it," she said. "That's my goal. 'Cause it's really hard. It's really hard to nail an accent and to stay consistent with it."
"I have moments when I watch the movie and I go [cringes] that wasn't it. But I tried," she added.
Heigl talked about the chance to work with Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds and the actress said it was, "Pretty cool. I feel like it doesn't get any better than that so I should just quit now but she was so fun and such a great lady and very raunchy."
"That woman's got a raunchy sense of humor. It's really fun," she added.
