Katey Sagal on 'Sons of Anarchy': 'It's gonna be a bloody season' (Video)
Season 4 of "Sons of Anarchy" kicks off on Monday, September 5 and fans can expect a "bloody" season, according to the series star Katey Sagal.
"It's a bloody season, I'll say that," Sagal told OnTheRedCarpet.com co-host Rachel Smith at the season 4 premiere red carpet event on August 30. Sagal was there with her husband Kurt Sutter, who is also the creator of the hit FX series.
Sutter said the fourth season is "just the reality of the 21st century sort of catching up with this town in progress and money and the urban sprawl that's happening all over the country."
The show follows the lives of members of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club in the fictional city of Charming, California. In the premiere several of the club members are released from prison after a 14-month stint.
"I don't think they [the town] are free of it either and that's really the reality of what's going on," Sutter added.
As for why the show has hit a chord with a mainstream audience, Sutter told Smith, "There's a sense of these guys just taking care of business regardless of the consequences and I think that strikes a chord, especially today where people feel frustrated and a little bit powerless."
"The fact that it's a fantasy. It's like reading about wizards and fairies because these are guys who ultimately don't give a crap about anything and are willing to throw caution to the wind and just sort of take care of business," he added.
On the series Sagal plays Gemma Teller Morrow, the mother of the club's vice president -- and the main character of the series -- Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam). She was married to the club's founder John Teller, who died after being hit by a semi-truck before the show began. The character later married Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) the president of the Sons of Anarchy. Sagal won a Golden Globe in the 'Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama category in January for her role on the series.
"For the most part it's fabulous," Sagal said about working with her husband on the series.
"It's awesome," Sutter added.
Sagal replied, "It really is awesome, but you know, our family is very different from their family."
"Sons of Anarchy" season 4 premieres on Monday, September 5 at 10 p.m. on FX.
