Kate Middleton, Prince William to visit California in July

Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, will visit California in July, Palace officials announced Thursday.

The royal couple, now known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will be in the state July 8 following their tour of Canada. They will stay for three days.

Officials will release a detailed itinerary later on.

The trip will be the prince's first official visit to the United States and Kate's first time in the country.

The couple got married April 29 at Westminster Abbey in front of 1,900 people, and the ceremony was watched by an estimated 2 billion people across the globe.
