Kate Gosselin 'freaking out' about 'Kate Plus 8' ending, gets mocked by Anderson Cooper - Video
Kate Gosselin is not taking the news of the end of her reality series "Kate Plus 8" well.
The reality star tells People magazine she is "freaking out. Big time." She adds that her children "weren't ready" to leave the series.
The TLC series saw Gosselin, 36, living life as a single mother of sextuplets - 7-year-old Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel, and twin daughters, Cara and Madelyn, who are 11.
The show is a spin-off of Gosselin's original reality program, "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which debuted in 2007 and featured her and then-husband Jon. The series changed its name in 2009, when the couple divorced, and ratings have since declined.
"I've never quit a job in my life without having something else lined up. I don't know what's next," she told the magazine for its cover issue.
"I told them [her children] I will work my fingers to the bone to make sure that they can stay here and go to their school," she added. "There are no guarantees in life for anyone, but they know that I'm giving it my best shot."
"TLC has decided not to renew another season of "Kate Plus 8," a spokesperson for the Discovery-owned cable network said in a statement to OnTheRedCarpet.com on Monday, August 15. "By the end of this season, 'Kate Plus 8' will have hit the 150 episode mark (including 'Jon & Kate Plus 8') - an exceptional milestone. TLC hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future."
The final episode of "Kate Plus 8" is set to air on September 12, the spokesperson added.
Previously, Gosselin seemed to have a more positive outlook on the end of the series. "We've had a great run!" Gosselin said on Twitter on Monday. "Six years of whirlwind funfilled adventures thanks to TLC and our many many supportive and diehard fans! While it is very sad for me and the kids (there were many tears at the breakfast table this morning!), we are looking forward with great anticipation to our bright future!"
Gosselin added that she hopes to have more time for "motivational speaking, book writing and other fun work opportunities."
"And maybe even some dating??!!" she added. "We wish our fans well. And remember, this is not 'goodbye'. I prefer to say 'See you around!' Xoxo."
Meanwhile, during his Ridiculist segment on his CNN show Tuesday, Anderson Cooper sarcastically mocked Gosselin after playing a clip from "Kate Plus 8." In the clip, Gosselin becomes upset when the children's baby sitter, Ashley, let Gosselin's daughter, Maddy, give a slice of pizza to the family's body guard, Steve, with her bare hands. "Oh my gosh, that is disgusting," Gosselin yells in the clip.
Cooper jokes, "So many lessons for all of us to learn. Wash your hands, guard your food. If you somehow, against all odds, find a woman who's willing to help you take eight kids on a cross-country road trip, for goodness sake, let her divide the pizza any way she wants."
