Kate Gosselin fired from CouponCabin blogging gig
Kate Gosselin was fired from her CouponCabin gig, the CEO announced in an open letter on October 16.
Scott Kluth, the CEO of couponing website CouponCabin, wrote, "A series of recent events have made it clear to me that Kate Gosselin and her contributions do not align with the authenticity which we set out to build almost a decade ago, and that Ms. Gosselin is simply not a good fit with the wonderful team and culture at CouponCabin."
The website announced that Gosselin had been hired as a contributing blogger in November 2011. Gosselin wrote blogs offering money-saving advice and has been a longtime advocate of couponing.
The posts Gosselin had written for the site had become flooded with negative comments. At press time, Kluth's open letter had 186 comments, nearly all of them slamming Gosselin or thanking the site for letting her go.
"It's with this that I am writing to inform you of our decision to discontinue Ms. Gosselin's feature blog on CouponCabin.com. Ms. Gosselin's contributions garnered both positive attention and criticism, but as always, I respect and appreciate your candid opinions, which often encourage us not to lose sight of our mission - to help YOU save money."
The 37-year-old mother of eight has not addressed losing the Coupon Cabin job but Tweeted on October 16, "Good afternoon! I'm alive! I've been super busy working away! I'm having lots of fun and can't wait to share! No worries... we will chat soon!"
Kate and her ex-husband Jon Gosselin became famous thanks to the popularity of their TLC reality show "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which starred their twins and sextuplets, now ages 11 and 8, and debuted in 2007. The often-squabbling parents became one of the most popular - and mocked - reality stars at the time. The two divorced in 2009 after ten years of marriage and the series continued production without Jon and its name was changed to "Kate Plus 8." The new show ended its run in 2011.
Kate told Dr. Drew Pinsky on a February episode of his CW series "Lifechangers" that she is lonely and is not sure she is ready to date yet, or whether she will find someone would can "deal with eight kids."
Gosselin appeared on Katie Couric's new talk show "Katie" on October 2 and said that she doesn't believe that the reality series caused her divorce, but noted that it was hard having eight children in such a short span of time.
Jon, 35, recently apologized for his behavior, telling People magazine, "I am sorry, because I did stuff I wouldn't want done to me."
In 2009, days after the couple announced their divorce, Jon went on a vacation with his younger former-girlfriend, Hailey Glassman. People said Gosselin is currently living and working in Pennsylvania as director of sales and promotions for Gameface Int. and that he is currently dating a 27-year-old single mother named Liz Jannetta.
