Kanye West film 'Cruel Summer' coming to Cannes, rapper bringing Kim Kardashian?
Kanye West plans to debut a short art film called "Cruel Summer" at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in France and will reportedly attend the prestigious annual event with reality star Kim Kardashian, who he is said to be dating.
The 34-year-old rapper says the project is inspired by his new album by the same name. The film will be screened 14 times between May 23 and May 24 and tickets are available on his official website.
"Cruel Summer" is a "fusion of short film and art installation; an immersive "7 Screen Experience" for the eyes and ears unlike anything West has attempted before," according to a statement released out by the rapper and his company DONDA.
Kardashian, his reported girlfriend, will join him at the first screening of his film at the festival next week, E! News reported. The two are currently visiting London, where the reality star is promoting her new fragrance, "True Reflection," as well as the her branded weight loss products by QuickTrim.
"Cruel Summer" is not among the competing films at the festival, which began on Wednesday and will end on May 27.
West previously directed several of his music videos," such as "Runaway" and "Through the Wire." He attended the Cannes Film Festival last year as well. At the event, he and supermodel Naomi Campbell appeared as presenters at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS benefit at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.
